December 7, What to Hold

The choice for poverty meets much resistance. Clare blesses Agnes and encourages her in her Second Letter by saying that what she holds, she may continue to hold: “What you hold, may you continue to hold.” This is the subject of the question for today.

“(11) (…)What you hold, may you continue to hold,
what you do, may you keep doing and not
stop,

(12) but with swift pace, nible step, and feet that
do not stumble so that even your walking
does not raise any dust,

(13) may you go forward tranquilly, joyfully, briskly, and cautiously along the path of happiness,

(14) trusting in no one and agreeing with no one insofar as he might want to dissuade you from pursuing your founding purpose or might place a stumbling block in your way, preventing you, in that perfection with which the Spirit of the Lord has called you, from fulfilling your vows to the Most High.”

The cards for Day 6 to 12 focus on your own special vocation. The question for today is:

What to hold (connected to my founding purpose, my divine vocation, the card for December 6)?

The card that depicts what to hold is Grandmother of Swords (Queen of Swords) from the Tarot of the Crone.

This grandmother has all the powers of the Swords gathered in herself: reason, imagination, revelation and reflection. She tells stories and the many faced truth of stories, and she speaks of what is and what could be, feeding the minds of those around her. I love this. I’ll hold this.
