Getting Somewhere! Psalm 119:9-16

I am getting somewhere with my course on psalm 119 and the tarot. I succeeded in making a second spread about the second stanza, the verses 9-16 (on on the Beth and the High Priestess) more open, interesting to do and inviting. Such a relief.

BEIT
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
10 With my whole heart, I have sought you.
Don’t let me wander from your commandments.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart,
That I might not sin against you.
12 Blessed are you, Yahweh.
Teach me your statutes.
13 With my lips,
I have declared all the ordinances of your mouth.
14 I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on your precepts,
And consider your ways.
16 I will delight myself in your statutes.
I will not forget your word.

I cannot explain how I came to it, but the question for the spread about this stanza, which is the second step on a spiritual path (combining the High Priestess, the psalm and the letter Beth) is: What is the special promise of the Eternal One or Divine for me? After the card is interpreted a second step follows, I’ll explain that later, first my own card.

I used the Motherpeace Tarot again for my reading. I did not want to change decks, the spreads relate to each other more easily when they are from one deck. I do regret now I did not start with the RWS, the deck I use in the course. But well, probably won’t tell about my own process anyway. The card that I received as the special promise of the Divine is, oh dear, oh dear, Five of Cups.

The overall message of the card is: grief, but do not stay in it too long, there are still nice things in life. Five cups are shown on the card. They all handle loss in a different manner. One cup gave me a head-ache when looking at it, the one on the left with the red starfish on it, as if all in it is bottled-up, really tensed. That cup inspired the promise. The special promise for me form the Divine is: “I promise you, connecting with your loss and tears, letting them flow, will bring life.” I would not be surprised if more layers of meaning come up.

After the card is pulled a second step follows. A symbol on the card is chosen (or from somewhere else) that represents this special promise. This promise is ‘put’ into the heart just as the psalmist does. He hides the promise in his heart (verse 11, the English has 'word' instead of promise). That helps him to ‘keep his way pure’. It is a reminder of the benefits of the path chosen.

The second step, choosing a symbol to represent the promise, was difficult. Flowing water is so cold to put in my heart. Therefore I just chose (did not pull it) another card to put in my heart. It is the Daughter of Cups (Page of Cups) from the Motherpeace Tarot; a girl that enjoys a waterfall.
