Today it is Palm Sunday. Yesterday I helped to make Easter crosses. These crosses represent the palm branches people waved with in the story about Jesus entry in Jerusalem. I helped making them in Heerenveen, and this morning I saw Easter crosses again in Amsterdam, carried around in procession in the church I went to, after having delivered my daughter at the Concertgebouw, where she had to sing for the second time in the Matthaus Passion. That is a nice characteristic of institutional religions. The rituals are essentially the same. In many, many services today children in Holland have carried these crosses through the building.
