Madonna del "Magnificat" (detail)

Friday, Fourth week of Lent, John 6:52-59, Eucharist (part 1)

Five classes, one in Amsterdam (which is a daytrip) and three of them in a row in the evenings. I am tired now, I must rest and be brief now. I have read John 6:52-59.

The discussion between Jesus and the crowd is still going on about the same theme, that of the living bread (it is going on at least three entries in this blog now).

People in the crowd said to ech other: “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them only if they eat his flesh and drink his blood, they will live eternally: “He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.” This is an important theme in Christianity, the flesh and the blood of Jesus are present in the bread and the wine of the Eucharist.

I wonder: what does it mean to eat Jesus flesh and to drink his blood?

I have pulled Four of Wands from the Fantastic Menagerie Tarot, made by baba_studio.

I don't know, this answer needs pondering.
