Madonna del "Magnificat" (detail)

Healing Waterfall

I thought it would be a good thing to focus myself on my own healing process again. A few weeks ago I painted a waterfall as an intention for healing. I imagined a light going to somewhere in my body which was the place that needed the healing. I had a goal, but the light went somewhere else, to my ears with their sounds. A waterfall came in my mind as the first image, so I took that one as the image to paint. I look at the image it often, because I can see it from the place were I sit, and I like the image. Today I have answered some questions about it, with the use of tarot cards. First I thought of an answer without a card, and then I pulled a card. The questions come from the book I use for it: Art and Healing, by Barbara Ganim. I used the Victorian Romantic Tarot.

Here are some of the questions and answers.

What do the images and colours tell you about your affliction? This card was difficult to read, because I painted my drawing as a healing image, which felt good and positive to me. But I tried to answer it. I pulled the King of Cups. I recognized the controlled emotion of the King in the drawing. It is showing in the waterfall, which is not abundant. I had seen it before, to be honest. Duty before pleasure, says the book with the cards.

What does this piece of artwork tell you about what is needed to restore balance and harmony to the wounded area within you? I pulled the Ace of Cups as an answer.

Needed is a lot of self-love, an embracing of life. The card looks a bit like my drawing, although in Ace of Cups is much more swift movement then in my drawing.
