Madonna del "Magnificat" (detail)

Prayer by St. Francis, Sowing Love

Today I have answered a question inspired by a prayer of Francis of Assisi.

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
Francis of Assisi

The question for my card is based on the second sentence of the prayer: “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.” The question is: “How can I sow love?” As an answer I have pulled the High Priestess from the Victorian Romantic Tarot.

Depicted is a witch who is conjuring visions from the brazier in front of her. This version of the High Priestess emphasizes the divinatory aspects of the card. Sow, how can I sow love? I can sow love doing my divinatory work, guided by the cards. That is something what I love doing, and what ones loves doing often bears fruit.
