Brigit's Cross

Thanks to my mother and semyaza I succeeded in making a workable Brigit's cross. My mother suggested that  the bands should be broader, and  semyaza wondered if the the cotton was starched or not. It was not. I tried both suggestions, and with success! Next year the making of the cross will possibly be a meditative experience.

Madonna del "Magnificat" (detail)

Thursday, Fourth Week of Lent

Today I have pulled a card as an answer to a question about the passage in John in which Jesus said he is the living bread which he will give for the life of the world. My question was: “What is the sacrifice that gives me life?” I have received Seven of Wands from the Llewellyn Tarot.

I see this card as a response on the Five of Cups, the card that I pulled the day before yesterday.

I felt strong a strong physical resistance writing about sacrifice that gives new life, when I wrote about this card. I felt if I was smothered. I felt strangled writing it down. The card of today tells me to give up this resistance to sacrificing. The man on the card does not do it. He fights and resists, just as I do. He even has a scarf around his neck (the place where I felt strangled).

The man stands in water in a waterfall; the figure on Five of Cups also stands in water. The water on the Seven of Wands seems to indicate: “Go with the flow, do not resist”. I grasp the meaning of the card intellectually, but I do not  relate with the card emotionally. I propped it up in front of me, but nothing, whatsoever.
