Gospel of Thomas Logion 1, Scroll

I have an addition to a previous entry about the gospel of Thomas, logion 1. Back then, looking at the card that I had drawn, the High Priestess from the Tarot of White Cats, my eyes fell on the direction in which the word Torah are written on the scroll in the lap of the priestess.

They are written in a way that I, the one who looks at the card can easily read them. In the RWS it is the other way around. That is extra interesting because in Gnostic texts the believer must find his knowledge him- or herself through self-knowledge. This position of the word torah accentuates this.

Gospel of Thomas, Logion 2, Why Trouble for Me?

I have pulled a card inspired by logion 2 of the Gospel of Thomas. (2) Jesus said: “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All.” My question is: Why shall I be troubled when I find (the interpretation of the words of the Gospel of Thomas). I have pulled Six of Pentacles from the Spiral Tarot.

I am still searching for an answer. In the book alongside this deck, the quality of equality is emphasized. That hits something. Gnosticm makes a difference between people: people who have the knowledge -gnosis- and people who do not have it. The first are the better ones. We see a little example of this in this logion. In the last part of sentence it is said: “he will rule over the All”. Well, I am all for equality, even in the extent that it feels as if it is forbidden to think otherwise.

I need to think about it a bit more, because my response to the image of the card is totally different. It is an image that wants to picture equality, the image makes me very unhappy. But I am not sure if it is the equality that makes me uncomfortable. It is as if three people are put together, who do not belong together.
So yes, conflict, trouble for me.
That is all for now.
Madonna del "Magnificat" (detail)

It is Beltane today. I forgot to do a reading to celebrate. All afternoon I have had the chance to remember it, because I installed "Pagan Daybook 3", a pagan calender for the computer, and to set it up the way I wanted it, the calander page of today was on my screen. But I did made a bike-ride through the woods and I enjoyed the young light green leaves on the trees very much. Beltane in nature... maybe even better than in cards.
