new moon

Yom Kippur Katan

It is the day before Rosh Chodesh, the Jewish festival of the new moon, a day to look back at the moon month that is now behind me.

The card that I pulled for this month, way back, was the Hierophant. An important theme this month was me wondering “how things worked”, being uncertain how to deal with organizations I am involved in. Teaching was important too this month, also a theme of the Hierophant. My classes started in this month.

I have pulled Four of Candlesticks (Wands) from the Tarot of Jane Austen today to reflect on this past month. Two couples are celebrating their marriage.

The card shows me, becoming settled in my new classes. I am always nervous at the start of the new season of teaching. I am happy with the new table I have for teaching. It is a big improvement, it gives much more room and security.

This card shows very much the step of my daughter going to High School. It is still new for her, but it is a more stable situation now. She has become a little bit more settled during the past month in her group. She also makes her homework, a very important thing, is interested in what she learns, and has fun with teachers and children.

The step to secondary school has proven bigger and more challenging than we thought though. She is young and likes to play during the breaks, but there is no room on the play ground for play. Besides that, the children in her group, who are a little bit older, look down at such a ‘childish thing’. In her choir she is very young too. All talk about boyfriends, which is not yet on her mind. She often played with kids in the neighborhood this past month, more than she had done before, kids from the 8th grade, younger than she is. That was nice for balance. This weekend she went to a field in the neighborhood for mountain biking. That was a good thing for the balance too.
